Bernhard Kügele obtained his Ph.D. in 1974 from the Atominstitut, Vienna University in the area of nuclear physics with a specialty in semiconductors. After two years in research, he entered the patent field working on laser equipment and optical and photographic devices. He gained further experience in steel making, arc furnaces, continuous casters and electrochemistry before becoming a partner in a then small Geneva based patent law firm. Named Managing Director in 1986, he developed the firm into Switzerland’s leading international patent law firm. Bernhard Kügele is also co-founder and former Managing Director of one of the largest IP firms in Europe. He held this position until 2012 before incorporating Kügele Intellectual Property which merged with Katzarov in 2018. Active as a European patent attorney, his expertise spans many fields, including electronics, quantum cryptography, mobile telephones, GPS, automobile technology and rechargeable batteries. Bernhard Kügele assists in and conducts patent infringement suits as well as opposition and appeal procedures before the European Patent Office. He is fluent in German, English and French.
