Ricardo Martin is a European Patent Attorney with a solid scientific foundation and experience in the field of intellectual property. He holds a Bachelor, Master, and PhD in Medical Biology from the University of Lausanne (UNIL).
During his doctoral research at the Department of Biochemistry (UNIL), Ricardo worked under the supervision of Prof. Nicolas Fasel on the biochemical pathways leading to mTORC1 inhibition, a critical protein complex implicated in numerous diseases including cancer. He also contributed to research on treatment failure mechanisms in leishmaniasis.
Ricardo began his IP career in a Swiss biopharmaceutical company focused on neurodegenerative diseases. There, as an in-house counsel, he conducted Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) studies, performed landscape analyses, drafted and prosecuted patent applications, and supported strategic IP portfolio development.
He later joined a Swiss private practice law firm, where he deepened his expertise across life sciences and high-tech patent matters while working with academic institutions, startups, and industry partners. He successfully passed the European Qualifying Examination (EQE) in 2024.
